Bonjour. Ca va? Je m’appelle Wendy.
Don’t worry this about the extent of my French. I can read a little but speak even less; I don’t think it is going to be a problem though (and Norm seems to be coping – he is asking lots of questions and I am interpreting – both ways when necessary!). 🙂
We arrived at precisely 13:47 (which is what our ticket had said). We have also moved our clocks forward an hour which will be the same time zone for the remainder of our travels.
The weather is a bit cooler and it rained this evening. It appears that the weather will be wet tomorrow too, but that will not be stopping us!!
We are staying at a lovely Hotel called Edouard 7. It is a short walk to the Louvre and seems to be close to everything. Like London the streets are chaotic and they drive on the other side of the road! mon Dieu! I have seen lots of Peugeot cars (my favourite – I have been driving Peugeot’s for the last 20+ years) so that is good.
So in usual fashion we have had a walk to orientate ourselves. We walked to the Louvre (I had no idea that where it is situated is so big). We then walked around the Tuileries Garden in front of the Louvre and back along the Seine River. We crossed over the Seine with the thought of checking out the Latin Quarter (where we were advised to go here for dinner) but it started to rain so we decided to head back to the Hotel.
Below are a few photos from today.
Tomorrow it is the hop on hop off bus to really get our bearings and to see the sights.
More insights tomorrow. Wendy 🙂
