We left Paris this morning and spent the day traveling by train to Interlaken. We had a 3 hour trip from Paris to Basel; then a 30 minute break to switch trains and then it was a further 2 hours from Basel to Interlaken (actually Interlaken East which is where we are staying – as you can also stop at Interlaken West). We arrived at our destination at 15:57pm precisely. The train system is very reliable.
The train trip was lovely – amazing scenery.
When we arrived at our Hotel and checked in the person who checked us in said we should immediately take the funicular up to Harder Kulm observation lookout. So we did just that. We dumped our things – grabbed the necessities and went to the station point, just around the corner from where we are staying. So this lookout is only 1322 metres high and it takes 8 minutes to reach the top. The view is spectacular.
The person with Norm is Simon a Swiss biology student that Norm struck up a conversation with while we were at the lookout.
More things planned for tomorrow – stay tuned. Wendy
